When you look at the weather year round in Lowell, Massachusetts it is pretty apparent that the cold season is more prominent.
- We get a summer season, it is just brief and quite underwhelming.
The highest we experience is the low 80s. Honestly in my household, we don’t even bother with a cooling system. For only one month out of the year it is a bit difficult. We use box fans and window windows to get by. Usually I open all the windows and let a fresh breeze inside. This is pivotal since most of the year the windows are latched, caulked, and sealed tight with the heater running on high. Even with Lowell heating service, the system isn’t 100% clean. That same, stale air is circulating over and over. It makes the indoor air quality dirty and polluted. That is why so many people get sick and feel sluggish during the snowy season. I use the summer temperatures as my time to air everything out. I wash all the curtains, bed linens, towels, and winter time gear. I then hang them on the clothes line to even further get fresh. Next I wash the entirety of the house and steam clean the rugs. The windows stay open until it starts getting cold again. Then everything is back to being sealed up tight and the heater is turned on. I will admit I fight turning on my heater. In Lowell the fall season gets cold. It isn’t abnormal to see snow on Halloween. I will fight it though. I know once the heater goes on, it isn’t going off for a very long time.
