South Bend, IN has some of the best weather in my opinion; I cherish that my pal and I get four distinct seasons. There is a occasion of a colorless Christmas, seeing changing leaves, blooming flowers, and having a tepid summer. I care about the fact that for three months out of the year, the record high won’t go past 85 degrees. The coldest my pal and I can get is the nighttime hot and cold temperatures being in the 20s, but yes, that is periods of tepid and cold, however for the most part the weather is quite moderate! Due to this, I rely on a heat pump system for most of the year. I technically own what is called a hybrid heater. This combines a ductless heat pump and a gas boiler. For most of the year the heat pump is the one working to achieve whole home temperature control, but how the heat pump works is by taking existing heat energy and either pushing or pulling it into the house. It is cleaner, quieter, and better for the environment, on the undoubtedly freezing days during the winter, the fuel source swings from electric to gas automatically. I don’t have to push a button. The gas boiler fires up and I feel perfectly warm… So for a vast majority of the year I am saving quite a bit of energy. I don’t have to sacrifice comfort. In South Bend you can’t undoubtedly get by with just a heat pump. Having a supplemental heating source is undoubtedly a great addition. I cherish that I don’t have to freeze late at night.
