After moving, I had to find work fast

My mom and dad kicked me out of the house when they found out that I was gay.

I was only 18 years old at the time and still a senior in high school.

Since I was legally an adult, they didn’t think it was a big deal to make me leave the house. I barely finished my senior year of high school. I moved from one couch to another. Most of my friends’ parents took pity on me. They fed me dinner and let me stay anytime I needed a place to sleep. After high school was over, I had to figure out what was next. I didn’t see college in my future. I really wanted to sing, dance, or act. I decided the best place for me was the city. I saved up my money and moved to Denver. The capital city of Colorado seemed like the best place for me to get started. I thought it might be easy to get a talent agent and find work, but it wasn’t. I had to find a real job while I waited for my acting and singing career to take off. I interviewed with a lot of places and happily accepted a job at a Denver cannabis dispensary. I worked at the Denver dispensary location for two years before I finally got my big break. I auditioned for a part in a Denver musical that was showing at the theater. I auditioned for the part of the main lead role and I got a call back. I got the lead part and that was the start of my acting career. After a really good review in the paper, I had more offers to act in the theater, commercials, and movies.
